An etching print I did while reading the book “The mascot” by Mark Kurzem, which tells the story of Kurzem’s father, Alex Kurzem, a Jewish boy who became a boy-mascot for a Latvian SS battalion in WW2.

The book itself isn’t much, but there was a very powerful image, in the begining of the book, which made me do this etching.  A boy, in the snowy forest, dressed with dead soldier’s clothes, pickes berries from the bushes. Wherever there are soldiers’ bodies, there are the biggest and sweetest berries.
